NEPSE hit positive 6% circuit at 1 PM to close for the day; gained 72.05 points in 2 hours with Rs 22.72 crore turnover

The market today witnessed 3 positive circuits one after another in the span of 2 hours to suspend the trading for the rest of the day. The first circuit breaker was applied at 11:48 AM for the 20 minutes when NEPSE hit 4% upper circuit or 47.58 points to close at 1,236.28 index with Rs 13.52 crore turnover. The second upper circuit was stuck after 9 minutes of market opening at 12:17 PM, when NEPSE increased by 5% or 59.87 points to close at 1,248.58 index with Rs 18.81 crore turnover. However, it took only 2 minutes for the market to suspend the trading for the rest of the day after it resumed at 12:58 PM, when it immediately hit 6% upper circuit at 1:00 PM to close at 1260.75 index with decent Rs 22.72 crore turnover in the mere 60 minutes of normal trading hour. 

The total turnover amount stood Rs 22.72 crore which was achieved through trade of 489,537 units of shares traded through 2,919 transactions trading scrips of 134 listed companies in the process.

Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) posted the highest turnover today also at Rs.3.64 Crore with LTP at Rs.1457 per share. Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited (NLIC) stood ahead in terms of volume with trade of 30,340 units of shares. The LTP of the stock stood at Rs.1177 per share. And in terms of highest number of share transactions Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited ( NRIC ) stood ahead with 551 times.

15 companies increased by almost 10% level which are ALICL, SLICL, NLIC, NLICL, CIT, SHIVM, STC, VLBS, HDL, SKBBL, NIL, SICL, AKPL, SCB and UIC. Whereas, only 1 company hit the negative circuit of 10% i.e. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC). Out of 134 scrips traded today, only 13 companies traded in red today. 

 

Sensitive Index gained 15.63 points or 6.1% and closed at 271.92 points while Float Index increased 5.33 points or 6.38% and closed at 88.86 levels.

In the individual sector context, other than Mutual fund and Hotels, all 10 sectors increased by impressive points. It was led by Life Insurance, Trading and Commercial Banking sector which increased by 9.41%, 8.32% and 7.25% respectively.

Today is the second day, stock trading happened after the suspension of 98 days due to pandemic disease. On Chaitra 9, 2076 NEPSE index had closed at 1251.45 levels, however, in the 2 days trading resumption amid the tightened lockdown market fell again by 49.88 points to close at 1201.57 index. Hopefully, market will catch up its momentum from here onwards.
