Nepse decrease with low turnover

The opening day of this week for Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) was disappointing as the index lost 2.59 points with low turnover. Since the news of mutual fund and margin lending was published in the newspapers, the daily turnover amount has been around 60 to 70 million. But today despite the sound financial report of some of the listed companies like HBL, LBL, and NTC, the participation in the market was low as the turnover amount decreased by more than 20 million than previous day.
With the lower turnover and most of the big companies like NTC, Laxmi, Nabil, Standard Chartered along with other huge capital base listed companies’ price decline than previous day closing, the market index also couldn’t gain upward momentum. Overall Nepse lost 0.65% to close at 395.67 level.
From today onwards the trading of Lalitpur Finance Limited (LFC) and Progressive Finance Limited (PROFL) has been suspended as two companies are going for merger with each other. The last traded price of both the companies was as Rs 325 and Rs 125 respectively. Other news related to listed companies today was, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Co Ltd’s BOD meeting dated 2069/05/01 has proposed to provide 15% of bonus share and 0.75% of cash dividend for tax purpose to its investor which is subject to approval for its upcoming AGM.
Today among the traded scrips, Karnali Development Bank Ltd. (KRBL), settled at Rs 78, was the top gainer with Rs7 or 8.86% while among the stock trading above par value, Nepal Bangladesh Bank (NBB),settled at Rs 142, was the Top Gainer with Rs 12 or 9.23%. Likewise, NIDC Capital Market Ltd. (NCM), settled at Rs 137, with Rs 15 or 19.87% down was the Top Loser.
In case of the highest transaction, Purnima Bikas Bank Limited (PURBL), closed at Rs 71, top the chart with 129 transactions. Similarly, in terms of highest share traded, Prabhu Finance Company Limited (PRFL),settled at Rs 138, topped with 11,573 units. As for the turnover, Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) , settled at Rs 599, topped with Rs 5,688,533 of 9,742 units; in which Broker No 25 (Sweta Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 76.53% stand alone dealing of BPCL, amounting Rs 4,354,000 of 7500 units via 4 matching transactions.
Sectoral wise, Hydro and Manufacturing were only the gainers for today with 0.85% and 0.94% respectively. Whereas, Hotel sector remain intact at 496.23 level and as for Banking, Others, Insurance, Development and Finance, all decreased by 1%, 0.75%, 0.42%, 0.19% and 0.19% points respectively. Sensitive index lost 0.82 or 0.8% points to rest at 101.82 level while Float index also dropped by 0.192 or 0.63% points to close at 30.48level.
Total scrips traded for the day was 81 with 24 gainers and 42 losers with total turnover of Rs 39,927,132 which is comparatively Rs 24,327,791 or 37.86% lower than prior trading session. Overall 130,049 units of shares were traded via 1233 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 374,437.36 Millions.
