Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has decided to close the trading of shares on Friday. The Board of Directors of NEPSE decided to stop trading shares on Fridays as of the following Ashoj. But on the remaining Fridays of the month of Bhadra, trading will take place.

Until the government made the decision to make Sunday a national holiday on Jestha, the stock market was open for trading from Monday through Friday. Trading, however, resumed from Sunday through Friday after the government revoked its decision about making Sunday a public holiday in Ashad. However, trading was limited to two hours on Friday.

Investors have been clamoring for the trading to close on Friday, claiming that there is no use in running it for two hours on Friday. Hence, NEPSE has consequently decided to shut down on Friday.

Additionally, shares will be traded from Sunday through Thursday on days other than public holidays starting with Ashoj. Likewise, trading hours on these days are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
