The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) marked its 25th anniversary with a grand celebration, emphasizing the crucial role of tourism in driving economic prosperity. Established on December 31, 1998, as the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) model organization in Nepal, NTB has been a pivotal force in the development and expansion of the country's tourism sector.
The Silver Jubilee ceremony, held in the capital, featured notable figures from the tourism industry and government. Sudan Kirati, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, inaugurated the event, highlighting tourism as the backbone of economic development. He stressed the importance of preserving Nepal's cultural identity, local flavor, and promoting proprietary tourism.
Chandra Rijal, Vice President of the Tourism Board, underlined the need to align Nepal's tourism promotion programs with the evolving dynamics of the global tourism industry. Dipendra Purush Dhakal, the first chairman of the board and former tourism secretary, emphasized the continued strengthening of NTB for sustained impact.
The event honored senior tourism professionals, diplomatic missions, and organizations that contributed to NTB's growth. Special recognition was given to long-serving employees who dedicated 25 years to the board.
In addition, staff awards were also presented. Certificates and shields were distributed to winning employees and players from various games organized as part of the Rajat Mahotsav celebrations.
