Nepal welcomed 78,711 foreign tourists in September 2025, according to data released by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Tuesday.

However, the figure represents an 18.3 percent decline compared to the same month last year, when 96,302 visitors entered the country. The drop indicates a slowdown in tourist inflow during this year’s peak tourism season.

Of the total arrivals, 15,556 were from India, followed by 9,679 from the United States, 5,237 from China, 3,015 from Sri Lanka, and 2,230 from Bangladesh, among others, the NTB reported.

Tourism authorities have expressed concern over the decline, as Nepal typically experiences a significant rise in visitor numbers during the autumn season.
