Nepal Recalls Six Oli Era Ambassadors

Nepal's government has recalled six ambassadors appointed during former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's tenure, completing the removal of all remaining political appointees from diplomatic missions abroad.

The recalled envoys served in India (Shankar Prasad Sharma), Australia (Chitralekha Yadav), Sri Lanka (Purna Bahadur Nepali), South Korea (Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe), Denmark (Sumnima Tuladhar), and South Africa (Kapil Shrestha). Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Paudel Kshetri confirmed they have been asked to return within one month.

The move leaves Nepal's diplomatic missions in 17 countries - including India, China, and the United States - without ambassadorial leadership. The Sushila Karki led interim government had already recalled 11 Oli era ambassadors last October, and the current Balen Shah government has now completed the process with this final batch.

Replacing them will require parliamentary hearings, a process likely to take several weeks.
