US Diplomat Megan Bouldin Meets Prime Minister Balendra Shah

The Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, Megan Bouldin, met with Prime Minister Balendra Shah at his office in Kathmandu for an official discussion.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah highlighted the need for global cooperation and joint efforts to manage climate related disasters and lower their risks. According to his press advisor, Dipa Dahal, the Prime Minister also spoke about Nepal's potential in tourism and asked the U.S. to encourage more business investment in the country.

Prime Minister Shah expressed gratitude for American aid and support following the recent floods along the Bhote Koshi River. He also shared his sorrow regarding the impact of the disaster on both local residents and foreign nationals.

In response, Chargé d'Affaires Bouldin expressed condolences for the loss of life and property caused by the flooding. She reaffirmed the solidarity of the United States with the government and people of Nepal, adding that the U.S. stands ready to support ongoing emergency relief, rehabilitation, and long term rebuilding efforts.
