Nepal participating in 'DOMOTEX' carpet fair in Germany

Nepal has been participating in 'DOMOTEX' carpet fair being organised at Hannover of Germany from today. A 14-member delegation under the leadership of Chairperson of Nepal Carpet Manufacturer and Exporter Association, Ram Bahadur Gurung, is participating in the fair that will run till January 13. Chair Gurung told Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that carpet entrepreneurs of Nepal have been participating in the fair for the past 16 years as it is very important event for Nepali carpet industry.

The fair has been taken as the opportunity of creating employment as well as making income of foreign currency by promoting and expanding international market of Nepali carpet. Although Nepal became successful to remain in the first position in the list of the export-oriented goods by making income of foreign currencies equivalent to Rs 8.50 billion last year, the ratio of export is decreasing gradually.

Gurung said that such fairs organised in international level would be helpful to attract carpet entrepreneurs at a time when carpet entrepreneurs started giving up their business in lack of favourable environment for carpet business.
