Nepal Observes 16th Republic Day; NEPSE Closed For Monday

Nepal is celebrating its 16th Republic Day today. To celebrate the occasion the government has provided a public holiday on Monday. 

Consequently, all government offices will remain shut for today. 

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) too has been halted for today.  

The Republic Day commemorates the date on which the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal took place on 28 May 2008, which ended the 240-year reign of the Shah kings and declared Nepal a republic.

To celebrate the ceremony, a function was organized in Tudikhel (Sainik Manch) in presence of President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice-president Ram Sahay Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other notable dignitaries.
