Nepal imports more Telephones than Diesel: Import-Export Report Released for Shrawan, the first month of FY 2077/78

The Department of Customs has published the statistic of foreign trade of Nepal till Shrawan of FY 2077/78.

According to the data published, the imports have fallen by 19.6% in the first month of FY 2077/78. Likewise, the exports have increased by 8.86% in comparison to the same period of 2076/77.

The highest import in Nepal has been coming from India followed by China. Canada, the Republic of Korea, and South Africa are other major exporters to Nepal. Our trade deficit with India has reached Rs 50 arba for this fiscal year. Similarly, with China, we have a deficit of Rs 11.12 Arba.

Our largest importer is India with total exports of Rs 6.31 Arba in the first month of FY 2077/78. Similarly, the US is Nepal's second-largest importer with 1.27 Arba of imports. Germany and the UK are other major importers for Nepal.

In total, we have a trade deficit of Rs 76.18 Arba, imports of Rs 85.80 Arba, and exports of 9.62 Arba.

Similarly, if we look at the product-wise export then the most exported product from Nepal is Soyabean oil and fractions with total exports worth of Rs 2.27 Arba followed by Black Tea at Rs 72.78 crores.

Similarly, telephones for cellular or other wireless networks are the highest imported products. Interestingly, Nepal imports more value of telephones than Diesel, which comes second in the import value with 2.45 Arba.
