Nepal Clearing House Ltd. Marks 17 Years of Driving Digital Payments in Nepal
Nepal Clearing House Ltd. (NCHL) celebrated its 17th anniversary on 8th Poush, 2082, with a formal program attended by key dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, executives from banks and financial institutions, and international partners. Incorporated on 8th Poush, 2065, NCHL was established to develop national payment, clearing, and settlement systems in Nepal. Over 17 years, it has launched multiple digital payment platforms such as NCHL-ECC, NCHL-IPS, Retail Payment Switch, connectIPS, CORPORATEPAY, connectRTGS, National Payments Interface (NPI), NEPALPAY QR, NPIx, EFT Card Switch, National Card Switch, and NEPALPAY Card.
The anniversary honored long-serving employees and former chairpersons for their contributions. NCHL also introduced innovative digital solutions, including a Digital Mobile Banking Solution with Siddhartha Bank, CORPORATEPAY 2.0 with Nabil Bank, Cards Central System with Machhapuchchhre Bank, and Third Parties Net Settlement with Smart Choice Technologies. Member banks and institutions contributing to digital payments were recognized, with special awards to Rastriya Banijya Bank for government transaction digitization and the Department of Immigration for enabling international card payments for e-visa services.
Licensed by NRB as a payment system operator, NCHL has over 54 direct member banks and more than 100 indirect technical members. In FY 2081/82, it processed 211 million transactions worth NPR 18.60 trillion, showing 67% growth in transaction count and 19% growth in transaction value.
