Since launching its toll-free hotline and email service six weeks ago, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has received more than 3,500 complaints, primarily related to local government issues. The initiative, started on September 23, aims to curb corruption and provide the public with a direct channel to report irregularities within the ministry.

According to MoF spokesperson Tanka Prasad Pandey, 2,500 complaints were received via email, while 1,000 were lodged through WhatsApp. The ministry also receives about a dozen complaints daily through the Hello Sarkar platform. Around 80 percent of complaints submitted to the MoF relate to the budgets of local governments, with a similar trend observed in the Hello Sarkar mechanism. The ministry maintains that nearly all grievances received from the public are addressed. Citizens are encouraged to send information directly to Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal at rameshore@mof.gov.np, or to the ministry’s official email gunaso@mof.gov.np and hotline 18105000410.
