Mist is likely to occur during the morning hours in some places of the Tarai region today, bringing reduced visibility in the early part of the day, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The Division reported that the weather in the mountainous belt of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will remain generally cloudy, while hilly areas of these provinces are expected to witness partly cloudy conditions. In contrast, most parts of the Tarai region are likely to experience mainly fair weather as the day progresses.

Meteorologists have also indicated a possibility of light rain and snowfall at a few places in the high mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Bagmati provinces. Similar conditions may develop at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The weather pattern is being influenced by a partial impact of westerly winds currently affecting the country. Such systems typically bring cloud formation in western and central highlands, occasionally leading to light precipitation and snowfall in elevated areas, especially during this time of the season.

For tonight, hazy conditions are expected to persist in a few places of the Tarai region, which may continue to affect visibility. Meanwhile, the mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces will see partly cloudy skies, with the remaining areas of the country likely to enjoy mainly fair weather.

There remains a chance of light rain and snowfall at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces during the night as well, the forecast noted.

Weather experts say the current mix of fair conditions in the plains and intermittent cloudiness in the hills and mountains reflects a seasonal transition, with localized effects of westerly systems still active. These conditions are common in late winter, often producing brief spells of precipitation in higher elevations while leaving the lowlands largely dry.

Authorities have advised residents, travelers, and transport operators in the Tarai to remain cautious during morning hours due to mist and haze, and those in mountainous areas to prepare for possible light snowfall and cooler temperatures.

The Division continues to monitor the evolving weather system and has urged the public to stay updated through regular forecasts.
