Minister Urges Swift Completion of Bheri Babai Diversion Project in Two Years

Shakti Bahadur Basnet, the Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, has issued a directive to craft a comprehensive action plan aimed at expediting the Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project's completion within the next two years.
During an on-site inspection of the Bheri Babai Diversion Project conducted on Sunday, Minister Basnet engaged in dialogues with both project personnel and representatives of the contracting company.
He underscored the imperative need to establish a robust action plan to ensure the project's conclusion within the stipulated two-year timeframe. Expressing concern over the project's sluggish progress, he stressed the urgency of creating this action plan to accelerate its completion.
Minister Basnet clarified that any extension of the construction deadline would be conditional upon the progress reported in accordance with the action plan, stating, "Without substantial progress, the government will not entertain requests for deadline extensions."
Furthermore, Minister Basnet urged the swift processing of compensation for individuals impacted by the project. He emphasized the importance of fairness in this process and instructed that the handling of eligible citizens' files should be expedited. Measures should also be taken to include those who have been unfairly deprived of compensation.
Minister Basnet reiterated the government's commitment to treating its citizens fairly and avoiding any form of injustice.
Present during the monitoring program were Mangal Shahi, Acting Chief Minister of the Karnali Provincial Government, Krishna Bahadur JC, Spokesperson and Minister of Internal Affairs and Law for the Karnali Provincial Government, and Bindaman Bista, a Provincial Assembly Member, among others.
