Market dips slightly on first day of Ashoj; loses 0.13 points to close at 1256.40 points

The market was highly volatile today, entering and exiting the green zone in brief periods. However, NEPSE lost 0.13 points and closed at 1256.40 points. Today’s turnover was Rs.68.76 Crore which was achieved from trade of 2,425,303 units of shares through 6,941 transactions trading scrips of 167 companies.

Global IME Bank Promoter Shares (GBIMEP) topped the highest turnover and most shares traded list with turnover worth Rs.9.27 Crore through trade of 517,826 units of shares. GBIMEP was followed by NMB Bank (NMB) and Prabhu Bank (PRVU) on both the lists.

Bhargava Bikash Banks was today’s top gainer after it gained 13 points marking an increase of 9.42% in the share prices. Excel Development Bank (EDBL) lost 12 points marking a decrease of 4.3% making it today’s top loser.

Sensitive Index lost 0.49 points and closed at 266.44 points while Float Index lost 0.14 points and closed at 91.08 points.

Only Trading, Non-Life Insurance, Manufacturing and Production, Microfinance and Life Insurance sub-indices were amongst gaining sectors today, rest all the sub-indices were in the red zone. Hotels sub-index lost 0.99% making it the top losing sector while Non-Life Insurance sub-index gained 3.48% making it the top gaining sector. Banking sector’s turnover stood at Rs.33.21 Crore which makes up more than 48% of the total turnover.
