Market continues to lose points as turnover today crosses Rs.2 Arba; find out why 7.23 Million units of EBLPO were traded today

On the last trading day of the week, the market saw a relatively larger movement in the negative direction. The benchmark index lost 0.73% or 8.21 points and closed at 1112.87 points. Today’s turnover was of Rs.2.16 Arba which was achieved from trade of 8,095,072 units of shares traded through 5,870 transactions trading scrips of 164 listed companies in the process.

Promoter Shares of Everest Bank (EBLPO) posted a turnover of Rs.1.91 Arba achieved through trade of 7,236,375 units of shares.

This comes after the NRB’s decision to restrict the bank from issuing dividend due to excess shareholding (more than 15%) by a single family. After the said ordinance, promoter shareholders Radha Shrestha and Nepal Krishna Shrestha had sold their shares to Pratima Shrestha at Rs.265 per share today. The current shareholding of Pratima Shrestha has increased to 14.83% after today’s trade. As a result of this trade, the Shrestha family is liable to pay tax of more than Rs.9 Crore.

Chautari Laghubitta (CHLBS) continues to be the top gainer as it gains 4.75% or 17 points to close at Rs.375 per share. Nepal Seva Laghubitta (NSEWA) lost the most today after its share prices fell by 8.43% or 51 points to close at Rs.554 per share.

Sensitive Index lost 1.52 points and closed at 236.92 points while Float Index lost 0.54 points and closed at 80.86 points.

All the sub-indices ended in the red zone after losing points today. The top loser among sub-indices was Hotels as it lost 1.57% or 27.04 points.
