Mandu Hydropower Limited has announced the full resumption of electricity generation at its Bagmati Small Hydropower Project (22 MW) after severe floods and landslides had disrupted operations last year.
According to the company, continuous heavy rainfall from Ashwin 11, 2081, triggered massive flooding and landslides in the Bagmati River, causing significant damage to the project infrastructure. The natural disaster forced a complete shutdown of power generation and created an uncontrollable situation at the site.
Following extensive reconstruction efforts, one of the project’s two generating units was successfully brought back online on Shrawan 19, 2082. The second unit resumed operations on Bhadra 12, 2082, restoring the plant to full capacity.
The company confirmed that the project is now fully connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s national transmission line, enabling a stable electricity supply from the 22 MW facility. Mandu Hydropower Limited expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their support during the restoration process and assured its commitment to maintaining reliable energy production in the future.
