Machhapuchchhre Bank introduces EMV chip cards
Machhapuchchhre Bank Limited has introduced chip-based EMV cards. Customers having Visa debit and credit cards will now be issued chip-based EMV cards upon their expiration.
Machhapuchchhre Bank has introduced EMV chip cards as part of its security and risk mitigation measures for electronic payment and transactions. EMV, a global standard for credit and debit payment cards, is based on chip card technology taking its name from the card schemes Europay, MasterCard, and Visa (EMV). Issuing a press statement, the bank has also requested its existing card holders of the bank to convert their magnetic stripe-based cards (debit/credit/prepaid) to chip-based cards.
Machhapuchchhre Bank Ltd. has been providing banking services from its 56 branches in Nepal. Its customers will be able to avail debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards and instant debit cards from all its branches. ATM customers will be charged only Rs 30 when withdrawing from any Visa ATMs in Nepal, while they can withdraw money for free from the bank’s ATMs.
