The Lumbini Province government has unveiled its budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 on Monday, placing strong emphasis on the development and management of the permanent provincial capital in Dang, particularly in Deukhuri of the Rapti Valley.

Presenting the budget, Minister for Economic Affairs Dhanendra Karki stated that priority has been given to upgrading essential infrastructure and strengthening health services across the province. A key highlight of the budget is the planned upgrade of the Rapti Provincial Hospital, which will be expanded to a 200-bed facility with an allocated investment of Rs 40 million.

The government has also announced the completion of the second phase of infrastructure development in Deukhuri to support the effective functioning of the federal-style provincial capital. Construction of a provincial assembly committee building and other administrative structures will be accelerated in the coming fiscal year.

In line with the capital development master plan, the budget allocates funds for the demarcation and improvement of major roads within the provincial capital area. Waste management will also be modernized through the introduction of advanced technology in coordination with Rapti Rural Municipality.

For tourism and cultural promotion, Rs 110 million has been allocated to develop a “Paradise Botanical Garden” along with related tourism infrastructure aimed at boosting local economic activity. Similarly, Rs 40 million has been set aside for the construction of a Tharu Museum, which is intended to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the historic Tharu King Dangishara.

The budget further includes provisions for strengthening irrigation systems and promoting sustainable water use, aligning with the province’s broader strategy for balanced regional development and improved public services.
