Kathmandu Traffic Police Penalize 1,592 Vehicles in 24-Hour Enforcement Drive

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has taken action against 1,592 vehicles for violating traffic regulations within the last 24 hours as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen road discipline.

During the enforcement drive, the traffic police collected Rs 2.02 million in revenue from motorists found breaching traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley.

According to office spokesperson Naresh Raj Subedi, action was taken against 73 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol, 87 for unauthorized ride-sharing, 74 for jumping red lights, 78 for overspeeding, and 47 for failing to follow lane discipline.

Similarly, 87 vehicle owners were penalized for using dark-tinted windows, 56 for unnecessary honking in no-horn zones, and 32 for driving on one-way roads, while 1,058 others faced penalties for various additional traffic-related offenses.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police has recently intensified monitoring and inspection campaigns, increasing surveillance on vehicles that fail to comply with traffic laws in an effort to improve overall road safety and discipline.
