In an effort to enhance traffic management and alleviate congestion on the roads, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a directive requiring long, medium, and short-distance vehicles operating outside the valley to exclusively operate from Gongabu Bus Park. The decision comes as a response to the challenges posed by random parking, ticket booking counters, and unregulated boarding and alighting of passengers along road sections.

As of Ashad 01, the KMC has instructed all ticket counters outside the new bus park to be removed. A notification issued by the metropolis emphasized the need for compliance with the decision reached in a meeting with relevant stakeholders. Despite the previous attempts to enforce the directive, the traffic management system has remained adversely affected by unauthorized parking, the continued presence of ticket booking counters, and haphazard passenger drop-offs and pick-ups along the roads.

Furthermore, the metropolis has extended the prohibition on stopping for long-distance vehicles with road licenses up to Dhulikhel, Banepa, and Sankhu along the Kalanki to Jadibuti section.

This public notice serves as a means to implement the aforementioned decision, with the Metropolitan Police urging all concerned parties to adhere to the new regulations. Individuals failing to comply with the directive may face appropriate action by the Metropolitan Police in coordination with the traffic police.

The move to designate Gongabu Bus Park as the exclusive hub for out-of-valley vehicles aims to streamline traffic management and enhance the overall efficiency of transportation operations within Kathmandu Metropolitan. By centralizing the departure and arrival points for such vehicles, authorities hope to mitigate congestion and improve the flow of traffic in and around the city.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City's initiative to enforce this directive highlights its commitment to creating a more organized and seamless transportation system for the benefit of residents and commuters alike.
