Investors gain confidence thanks to inflow of good Q4 Reports from BFIs; Market turnover more than 45 Crore today

The market today ended up gaining 0.61 points. Though it is a small gain, the market’s behavior today was nothing short of a roller coaster ride experiencing ups and downs. It closed at 1210.32 points after gaining 0.05%. The turnover over today was an exquisite Rs.45.96 Crore. It seems that investors’ confidence is starting to come back in the market. This can very well be attributed to the wonderful Q4 reports from BFI’s. A growth of 16% in the commercial bank sector was seen which means they are in a good position to distribute dividends.

Today’s turnover was achieved through trade of 1,375,602 units of shares from 6,515 transactions where scrips of 166 companies were traded.

Nepal Investment Bank’s Promoter Shares (NIBLPO) had the highest turnover of Rs.1.89 Crore while NMB Bank (NMB) was a close second with Rs.1.67 Crore in terms of turnover. A total of 58,145 units of shares of Mega Bank (MEGA) were traded today making it to the top of shares traded list followed by NMB Bank (NMB) with trade of 51,341 units of shares.

Bottlers Nepal Terai (BNT) were the top gainers after an increase of 8.10% in the price of shares. BNT gained 455 points today. Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) gained 6.11% making it the second most gaining company today. It gained 1,381 points.

The top two loser today were Lalitpur Finance Company (LFC) and Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) after losing 16 points and 109 points respectively. LFC lost 9.58% while HDL lost 7.5%.

Both the Sensitive and Float index fell today. Sensitive fell by 0.02 points and closed at 255.38 points while Float fell by 0.05 points and closed at 87.09 points.

Apart from Banking and Manufacturing sub-index, all the other sub-indices were red today. Top losing sub-indices were Life insurance which lost 26.87 points and Hotels which lost 27.25 points.
