KATHMANDU, Aug 3:

India has pledged to construct three bridges over Mahakali River which borders with India.

Addressing the parliament on Sunday, visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his country would treat border as bridge and not barrier.

In the Nepal-India Joint Commission meeting held last week, Nepal had proposed to the southern neighbor to build bridges in Mahendranagar, Darchula and Baitadi.

Likewise, Modi has expressed commitment to build petroleum pipeline between Nepal and India.

Nepal had proposed India to construct 41-kilometer pipeline to ease transport of fuel from Raxaul of India to Amlekhgunj. Construction of pipeline will ease petroleum transportation process and significantly reduce transportation cost.

Modi also said India would help Nepal to modernize agriculture sector and also promote adventure tourism. He also said Nepal should promote organic farming like the Indian state of Sikkim.
