Imports Rise at Tatopani Border as Trade Resumes Smoothly Post-Dashain
Imports through the Tatopani border point have surged following the Dashain festival, with over 20 containers entering Nepal daily, according to the Tatopani Customs Office.
Officials reported that there are currently no major road obstructions, as the Kodari landslide has been fully cleared, allowing goods such as garments and fruits to move through the route without interruption.
The border, which had remained closed for nearly two months, reopened earlier this month after Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kulman Ghising directed the swift clearance of the landslide debris.
Meanwhile, the Rasuwa border point has remained closed since July 7 after floods swept away the Lhende River bridge. Although China is constructing a Bailey bridge at the site, Rasuwa Customs Chief Tulsi Bhattarai noted that the severely damaged road from Syafrubesi to Rasuwagadhi makes it unlikely for trade to resume before the Tihar festival.
