Heavy Rainfall Forecast Prompts Nationwide Public Holiday on Ashwin 19–20

Based on information received from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, there is a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall across various parts of the country from Ashwin 18 to 20. With rainfall already occurring in several regions, the government has urged the public to exercise special caution.

The authorities have warned of possible floods, inundation, and landslides triggered by the rain, which may also disrupt road and air transport. Considering the heightened risk of potential human casualties and damage, the Government of Nepal has decided to declare nationwide public holidays on Ashwin 19 and 20, 2082, except for offices related to disaster management and essential services.

The Ministry has also appealed to all citizens to remain indoors unless necessary and to stay in safe locations throughout the period. The public is requested to remain alert and follow safety guidelines to minimize risks during the adverse weather conditions.
