Green Ventures Limited Acquires 51% Stake in Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project

Green Ventures Limited has officially signed a Share Purchase Agreement to acquire 51% of the promoter shares of Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project Pvt. Ltd. on 10th Bhadra, 2082 (August 26, 2025).

The Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project is an ambitious 180 MW Peaking Run-of-the-River (PROR) project located along the Kali Gandaki River, spanning the Myagdi and Mustang districts. The project has already received its electricity generation license, marking a significant milestone in its development.

The financial arrangements for the project have been facilitated under the leadership of Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited, with a consortium of various banks providing co-financing support. The project’s estimated total cost is Rs. 39.50 Arba, with a planned debt-to-equity ratio of 75:25.

Green Ventures Limited emphasized that the construction and operationalization of the Kali Gandaki Gorge Hydropower Project are expected to contribute significantly to the growth and sustainability of Nepal’s energy sector. This strategic investment highlights the growing confidence of private investors in Nepal’s hydropower sector and marks an important step toward meeting the country’s increasing energy demands.
