Govt awards outstanding farmers, entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Agricultural Development (MoAD) on Tuesday awarded various farmers and agriculture entrepreneurs under 28 categories. At the function organised in Kathmandu on the occasion of the World Food Day, Minister for Agricultural Development Haribol Gajurel awarded them. Of the winner, five were grantees of the Ministry’s Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT). They include Chitwan-based New Shreeram Beejbriddhi Multipurpose Company Pvt Ltd, Palpa-based Madan Pokhara Multipurpose Agricultural Market Cooperative, Bara-based goat farmer Shankar Mainali, pisciculturist Sharad Gautam from Lamahi of Dang and Bardiya-based Budhan Farmer Multipurpose Cooperative. The Project said its effectiveness was reinforced as its grantees were awarded by the Ministry. The Ministry’s Secretary Uttam Kumar Bhattarai, Food and Agricultural Organisation’s representative to Nepal Somask Pipoppinyo, Department of Agricultural Development Director General Yuvak Dwaj GC, among others, had addressed the function.
