Governor of Nepal, Maha Prasad Adhikari has issued directives to banks and financial institutions to support struggling enterprises and businesses facing challenges due to various circumstances. The governor conveyed this message during an interaction program with presidents and representatives of bankers' associations associated with 'A', 'B', 'C', and 'D' category banks and financial institutions. He emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for businesses to operate smoothly, especially those facing difficulties due to adverse economic conditions.

During the discussion, the governor stressed that even well-intentioned businesses encountering hardships should receive assistance. He assured that the Rastra Bank is prepared to provide necessary policy coordination and support for the promotion of a favorable business environment. However, he made it clear that activities against the financial sector that negatively impact financial stability would not be tolerated, considering such actions as criminal acts in banking.

Addressing the issue of debt repayment, the governor asserted that debts must be honored, and any attempt to discourage debt repayment should be considered a banking offence. He expressed the view that such activities need to be addressed within the framework of banking regulations. Likewise, the increasing challenges in debt and interest recovery, as well as the management of bad loans has led to a rise in the workforce within the banking sector. He suggested the importance of taking necessary steps to address these challenges and emphasized the need to simplify the existing system related to loan loss.

The Governor Officer also shared insights from an interaction held on the 4th and 5th of Mangsir 2080, coordinated by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' where discussions on the current state of the country's economy and future courses of action took place. During the program, various officials, including Deputy Governor Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Executive Directors Dev Kumar Dhakal, Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Revati Prasad Nepal, and Vishrut Thapa, provided their perspectives on financial sector issues.

Representatives from banking associations, including Sunil KC, President of Nepal Bankers Association, Naresh Singh Bohra, Treasurer of Development Bankers Association of Nepal, Sunil Pant, President of Nepal Financial Institutions Association, and Ram Bahadur Yadav, Executive President of Nepal Microfinance Bankers Association, were present at the interaction.
