Government Unveils Rs 1.96 Trillion Budget for FY 2082/83

The government has announced a total budget of Rs 1.96411 trillion for the Fiscal Year 2082/83, aiming to support economic recovery and development through a balanced allocation of resources.
Presenting the budget in the Federal Parliament, Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel revealed that Rs 1.180 trillion has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while Rs 407 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure. Additionally, Rs 375.24 billion has been set aside for financial management, including public debt servicing.
To finance the planned expenditure, the government aims to mobilize Rs 1.315 trillion through revenue collection. The remaining deficit is expected to be managed through domestic and foreign borrowing, as well as external grants.
The breakdown of funding sources is as follows:
Revenue Collection: Rs 13.15 Kharba
Foreign Loans: Rs 2.33 Kharba
Internal Loans: Rs 3.62 Kharba
Foreign Grants (Aid): Rs 53.45 Arba
The budget underscores the government's focus on infrastructure development, social security, energy, agriculture, and financial sector reforms, while also emphasizing the need for fiscal discipline and improved service delivery.
