Government Declares National Mourning Holiday on Ashwin 1

The government has announced a national mourning holiday on Ashwin 1 to honor those who lost their lives during the Gen Z protests held on Bhadra 23 and 24.

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal said the decision was made during the cabinet meeting on Monday. He stated that the holiday is a mark of respect and remembrance for the protest victims.

According to Minister Aryal, the first cabinet meeting of the interim government, formed under the leadership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki, decided not only to declare the mourning holiday but also to establish a Judicial Investigation Commission to probe the incident.
