CDS and Clearing Limited will be finally implementing Electronic Delivery Instruction Slip (EDIS) from Sunday. The online system was unveiled today amidst a program which was attended by the presidents of CDSC, NEPSE and Investors Forum.

With the implementation of E-DIS, the investors will not have to face any kind of settlement problem. The investors will also be visiting the broker’s office less due to the E-DIS system. CDSC has also stated that the DP settlement will be simplified with the implementation of the new system.

Mr. Ambika Pd. Poudel, Chairman of Investors Forum added, “The progress so far is very promising and great. However I’d like to add when we will get investors’ ID so that we can know how many active investors are there. Similarly we also want more transparency in tax, we want to know the charges that we’re paying are for what and where it goes? Now that we’ve achieved T+2, let us move to T+1 with full utilization of technology. This is absolutely necessary to motivate the existing and new investors alike.”

The Depository Participants (DP) and Brokers have already received 2 phase training required for the implementation. As per CDSC, the manual for the E-DIS will be available at the website.

How to use E-DIS?

For using the E-DIS service, the investors can log in their Meroshare account and follow in the E-DIS option.

Yo need to choose My EDIS - then Transfer shares -and then you’ll see settlement ID and settlement date (settlement ID for t+2 will only be visible and that should be settled in that period) - View details - trade details will be displayed - just select the given option (the share you have sold) - you can settle one or more shares of you have sold different shares - confirmation window will come and then confirm it and instruction will be sent to the brokers and it will be done. The info will come in your Meroshare by 4 PM of the day when you have sold the shares.

It has also been informed that no DP charge will be levied on the investors from Sunday.
