From Offer Letter to Balance Sheet: How Nepal's IPO Companies Actually Performed?

Tue, Jun 2, 2026 11:32 AM on Financial Analysis, Highlight News,

Among the 27 companies that issued IPO to the general public in this F.Y. 2082/83, Solu Hydropower Limited (SOHL) stands out as the top performer, posting an actual net profit of Rs. 85.81 crore in the 3rd quarter of F.Y. 2082/83, against a projected annual figure of Rs. 95.13 crore for the full F.Y. 2082/83 in the offer letter. With one quarter still remaining, SOHL is well on track to meet or even surpass its own projection, making it the most credible performer in this IPO batch. Reliance Spinning Mills Limited (RSML) reported Rs. 26.68 crore in actual profit through Q3 of F.Y. 2082/83 but had projected Rs. 102 crore for the full F.Y. 2082/83 in the offer letter published by the company before IPO issue to the general public. A gap that raises questions about whether the company can nearly double its current earnings in a single last quarter. Super Khudi Hydropower Limited (SKHL) earned Rs. 18.17 crore through Q3 of F.Y. 2082/83 against a projection of Rs. 39.87 crore for F.Y. 2082/83, showing reasonable progress but still requiring strong Q4 performance to close the gap.

On the loss side, Him Star Urja Company Limited (HIMSTAR) recorded the steepest actual loss at Rs. 7.03 crore in Q3 of F.Y. 2082/83, despite projecting a profit of Rs. 2.04 crore for the full F.Y. 2082/83. Hotel Forest Inn Limited (HFIN) posted a loss of Rs. 5.4 crore in 3rd quarter report of this F.Y. 2082/83 against a projected profit of Rs. 3.59 crore for F.Y. 2082/83, and Shikhar Power Development Limited (SIPD) reported Rs. 4.86 crore in losses in this 3rd quarter while projecting a profit of Rs. 4.79 crore for F.Y. 2082/83 both reflecting a complete reversal from what was promised to investors in their offer letters. Bandipur Cable Car and Tourism Limited (BANDIPUR) had projected Rs. 20.47 crore net profit for F.Y. 2082/83, but the actual figure through Q3 sits at Rs. 1.62 crore loss, a sharp contrast that underlines execution challenges in the tourism sector.

Nepal IPO Landscape: F.Y. 2082/83

This batch of 27 IPOs paints a mixed but revealing picture of Nepal's primary market. The hydropower sector dominates the list, reflecting the country's continued reliance on energy sector listings to attract retail investors. However, a large portion of companies, particularly in hydropower and emerging sectors have either fallen short of their projected figures or slipped into losses through Q3 of F.Y. 2082/83. The data suggests that projected figures in Nepalese IPO offer letters are frequently overstated, as many companies are far behind their own annual targets with only one quarter left. While a few standout companies like SOHL demonstrate that credible and even conservative projections can be met, the overall trend raises a broader concern about the reliability of financial forecasts presented to general investors during the IPO process. For retail investors in Nepal's growing capital market, this data highlights the importance of scrutinizing offer letter projections critically rather than treating them as guaranteed outcomes.
