Over the past 10 months, a remarkable 177,182 foreign tourists have ventured into the revered Annapurna circuit, a premier trekking destination renowned for its breathtaking vistas and cultural richness. According to data compiled by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the highest influx of visitors, totaling 35,265, was recorded during the last Chaitra period (March-April).

Dr. Rabin Kadariya, Chief of ACAP, disclosed that among the visitors, 79,232 hailed from South Asian countries, while 97,950 arrived from other global destinations during the specified timeframe. Notably, the months of September-October and April-May are considered prime trekking seasons in the region, attracting a multitude of enthusiasts from around the world.

While Indian tourists predominantly utilize surface routes to access attractions like Muktinath, travelers from other nations often opt for the immersive experience of trekking through the Annapurna circuit. Dr. Kadariya underscored a resurgence in tourism activity, indicating a return to pre-pandemic levels and a notable surge in arrivals from third countries.

ACAP's data primarily focuses on foreign tourists traversing the Annapurna circuit trekking route, omitting statistics on domestic travelers originating from Mustang and adjacent regions. Nevertheless, the allure of the Annapurna circuit remains undiminished, with 191,558 tourists from 173 nations gracing its trails in 2023, marking a historic high.

Renowned for its spectacular glaciers, well-developed tourism infrastructure, hospitable climate, and warm local hospitality, the Annapurna circuit stands as a premier global destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Spanning across 7,600 square kilometers, the Annapurna Conservation Area encompasses 89 wards across 16 local administrative units, including Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Myagdi, and Mustang.
