Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal Leaves for New York Ahead of UN General Assembly
Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is leaving for New York today to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khanal will take part in several high level meetings, ministerial programs and side events held during the high level session. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and other senior officials from different countries during his stay in the United States.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah will travel to the United States on Tuesday, Ashoj 6, leading the Nepali delegation to the General Assembly. He is scheduled to address the high level session of the UN General Assembly on September 24 (Ashoj 8). The delegation will include Foreign Minister Khanal, the Prime Minister’s Chief Adviser Kumar Byanjankar, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and other senior government officials. A total of 14 members are expected to be part of Nepal’s delegation.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shah is also scheduled to meet UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Shah is scheduled to return to Nepal on September 26, while Foreign Minister Khanal will return three days later.
