Foreign Minister Khanal Stresses Stronger Global Partnerships
Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal has emphasized the importance of shifting Nepal’s traditional diplomacy toward economic diplomacy to support the country’s prosperity and development.
Speaking at a program organized to mark Nepal Foreign Service Day in Kathmandu today, Minister Khanal highlighted the need for stronger diplomatic initiatives to enhance Nepal’s dignity and international image. He noted that international partnerships should be effectively utilized to attract foreign investment, promote tourism, facilitate technology transfer, and expand market access for Nepali products.
Addressing the same event, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai paid tribute to senior officials who have made significant contributions to Nepal’s foreign service and urged Foreign Service personnel to maintain professionalism in their work.
During the ceremony, newly appointed Foreign Service officers were welcomed, while retired officers and staff members were honored for their service. The event was attended by senior ministry officials, former chief secretaries, former foreign secretaries, and former ambassadors, among others.
