FNCCI Welcomes Government Committee to Address Electricity Disputes, Urges Swift Industry Solutions

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed appreciation for the government's proactive step in forming a committee to address disputes related to dedicated and trunk line electricity.
In a press statement issued today, FNCCI anticipates that the newly established committee, led by former Supreme Court judge Girish Chandra Lal, will contribute to finding a lasting solution to the ongoing electricity issues. The industry body emphasizes the importance of a durable resolution and calls on authorities to reinstate dedicated power supplies to industries promptly, asserting the industry's "right" to uninterrupted access to power.
The FNCCI acknowledges the government's responsiveness to its demand for a judicial body to investigate the matter and applauds the directive issued to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to restore power supplies to industries. The organization expresses gratitude for this move, thanking the Council of Ministers for their actions. The FNCCI is optimistic that the government's commitment to resolving the electricity disputes will prevent any negative impact on the private sector.
The committee, formed during the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, includes joint secretaries from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. Endowed with the authority to investigate disputes regarding tariffs of dedicated and trunk lines, the committee is tasked with presenting a comprehensive report on the matter.
