The current Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, is presenting the Budget for FY 2019/20.

In her budget speech, she has urged Security Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to push the minimum public shareholding in listed firms to 35%, which currently stands at 25%. If SEBI acts on this, then more than 1,400 listed companies will be affected. Right after the announcement, the SENSEX index dropped by 100 points.

Simialrly, the budget places huge importance to the upliftment of farmers by laying foundations for zero-budget farming.
