FM Mahat Urges Nepal to Prioritize Distinctive Exports Over High Technology

Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat emphasized the importance of boosting export trade as the foundation of the nation's economy during his speech at the fourth-anniversary celebration of the Federation of Exports Entrepreneurs Nepal. He highlighted the need for Nepal to concentrate on producing distinctive and specialized goods rather than relying on high-technology products.

Dr. Mahat expressed optimism about the future of export trade and assured that the government is committed to creating a conducive environment for the export economy. He emphasized the uniqueness and originality of Nepali products for export. Additionally, he dismissed the relevance of raising SAFTA-related concerns while overlooking the potential benefits of a trade agreement with India.

Stressing the significant role of exporters, he noted their contribution to economic growth, job creation, revenue expansion, and the promotion of sustainable development. Dr. Mahat acknowledged the current challenges faced by the Federation of Exports Entrepreneurs Nepal (FEEN) and assured that the government would address their genuine concerns when economic conditions become more favorable.
