Fines Imposed on Producers for Repackaging Expired Food Items

According to the Department of Commerce, two different manufacturers located in the inner cities of Kathmandu, Yatkha, and Yangza, have been penalized for acting against the interests of consumers.
During a monitoring operation conducted on Sunday, a producer in Yatkha village was found to be selling rotten raisins, leading to the department imposing a fine of 3 lakh rupees on the producer.
Similarly, another producer in Yangza, located within Kathmandu, was fined 2 lakh rupees for repackaging expired cashews and releasing them into the market with a new date, as reported by the department.
These fines were levied in response to the producers' actions, which were found to be detrimental to consumer interests.
Furthermore, the department has imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on a surgical shop in Tripureshwar, which was operating without proper registration. This fine was imposed due to the surgical shop's operation without the necessary permissions.
