Continuous rainfall has triggered landslides and floods in Yangwarak Rural Municipality, forcing four families from Ward No. 1 to evacuate their homes while several other settlements remain at risk. One family has already been shifted to a safer location after a landslide threatened their house.

The families of Mohanlal Khawas and Kabir Khawas of Lambkhola, along with Ganga Prasad Begha of Kopche, were displaced after landslides damaged their homes. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Anish Kumar Karna, six members of Bhagiman Begha’s family were also displaced after their residence became vulnerable to a landslide.

Several houses in Kopche, Chamlingdanda, Ekrate and Kholaghari Magardanda are currently under threat due to flooding and landslides. Floods have also damaged suspension bridges connecting Lamitar and Chamlingdanda, as well as another bridge near Dobhan in Ward No. 2. Two bridges under construction were swept away, including a 41-foot bridge over the Mewa stream along the Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway, completely disrupting transportation in the area.

Meanwhile, floods and landslides have also caused damage to multiple hydropower projects, including the Harirhudulaya Mevakhola Hydropower Project, the Iwakhola Hydropower Project and the Arun Kabeli Hydropower Project located near the Taplejung border.
