Civil Bank CEO Govinda Gurung Resigns from Office; Sunil Pokharel Appointed Acting CEO

Civil Bank CEO Mr. Govinda Gurung has resigned from his post. Gurung had submitted his resignation which was then approved by the meeting of the board of directors held on Baisakh 05.

Gurung's resignation is effective from Baisakh 18. Until further proceedings, Deputy CEO Sunil Kumar Pokharel has been appointed the acting CEO. 

Gurung had about three months left in his term. After the resignation, Gurung will head on to become the Chief Executive Officer of a bank in Myanmar. Civil Bank has congratulated Gurung for being the first Nepalese to be the CEO of a bank in a foreign land. Gurung worked in Himalayan Bank, Global Bank, and Mega Bank in Nepal before becoming the Chief Executive Officer of Civil Bank.

Civil Bank's shares opened at Rs. 228 in the secondary market today, a 4.6% decline from yesterday's closing. Nonetheless, the LTP stands at Rs. 239.
