Butwal Power Company Publishes Its First Quarter Report; Has It Performed As Per Investors Expectations?

Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) has reported an increment in net profit by 46.19% in the first quarter (Q1) of the current FY 2078/79. The profit increased to Rs. 7.58 crores in this quarter from Rs. 5.18 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

BPCL has sold electricity worth Rs. 20.76 crores and collected revenue from other sources worth Rs. 3.31 crores by the end of Q1.

Its reserve fund stands at Rs. 4.13 Arba with share capital at Rs 2.95 Arba.

As per the management, the Nyadi Hydropower project (NHP) 30 MW is almost in the completion phase with civil, hydromechanical, and electromechanical works almost completed (NHL recently concluded its IPO). Further, the company has completed the feasibility study and EIA of its 7.9 MW Chino Khola Hydropower Project and has applied for the generation license. The generation license for the Lower Manang Marsyangdi Hydroelectric Project (LMMHEP) at a capacity of 140 MW has been reoptimized, however, the capacity is revised to 139.2 MW. BPCL has acquired MMHEP to develop with Chinese JV partners for which generation license has been received for 282 MW capacity which is re-optimized at 135 MW. The company has also acquired 327 MW Upper Marsyandgi-2 Hydroelectric project (UM2HEP). The management further mentions that FDI has already been approved by IBN and the process for Project Development Agreement (PDA) negotiation is being initiated. The company expects to start the construction of all three projects immediately after PPA and financial disclosure.

The company sits in a fair liquidity position of 13.41 times. The acceptable ratio is 1.5 times.

Its annualized earning per share stands at Rs. 10.27. The net worth per share at Rs 240.07 and the P/E ratio stood at 48.66 times.
