Bhattarai calls for making diplomatic efforts to lift blockade

Former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has insisted on exercising diplomacy to lift unofficial blockade imposed by India on Nepal. Taking part in an interaction programme organised by Sambad Nepal Thursday, he was of the view of making necessary amendments to the constitution to address the voices of Madhesi, Tharus and Magars. He further stressed the need of taking country towards economic progress to reduce foreign dependency. Leader Bhattarai who recently announced his isolation from the UCPN (Maoist) said he had realised the formation of a new political force some two years back as the UCPN(M) running with old mindset could not contribute to build a new Nepal. The promulgation of the constitution from the Constituent Assembly (CA) was itself a historic and revolutionary deed, but it has failed to incorporate the sentiments of all and needed to be amended, he added.
