Bagmati Province Unveils Rs 66.09 Billion Budget for FY 2026/27, Focused on Employment and Economic Growth
The Bagmati Province government has unveiled its annual budget of Rs 66.09 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27, prioritizing economic growth, employment generation, and infrastructure development.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Prabhat Tamang presented the budget during today’s meeting of the Bagmati Province Assembly.
Presenting the budget, Minister Tamang stated that the government aims to promote self-employment and job creation through entrepreneurship under the flagship policy “Prosperous Bagmati Campaign: Good Governance, Technology and Production.” The policy is expected to strengthen production-oriented development while encouraging innovation and technology-driven growth.
Of the total budget, Rs 22.09 billion has been allocated for recurrent (current) expenditure, while Rs 43.09 billion has been earmarked for capital expenditure, reflecting a strong focus on infrastructure development and long-term investment projects.
On the revenue side, the province has projected Rs 30.15 billion from tax revenue, Rs 7.73 billion from other internal sources, and Rs 15.31 billion from federal fiscal transfers.
Minister Tamang also highlighted that Bagmati Province’s annual economic growth rate is estimated at 5.40 percent. He further noted that the province’s per capita income is projected to reach USD 2,644, the highest among all provinces in the country.
In addition, the provincial government has allocated Rs 6 billion for financial transfers to local levels, aiming to strengthen local governance and support development activities at the grassroots level.
The budget reflects the province’s broader vision of enhancing governance efficiency, expanding economic opportunities, and accelerating development through strategic investment and policy reforms.
