The Public Accounts Committee has intervened to halt the implementation of the Telecommunication Traffic Monitoring and Fraud Control System (TERAMOCS), citing concerns over the lack of legal clarity and transparency in the procurement process. In a meeting held on Wednesday, the committee raised 15 questions regarding the TERAMOCS procurement process, questioning its justification and transparency.

Committee Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel highlighted the absence of studies, proposals, and informed decisions in the TERAMOCS technology purchase process. The committee expressed reservations about the justification for increasing revenue through this system. Additionally, it emphasized the lack of a legal basis for the system's implementation and questioned the clarity of the need for TERAMOCS.

The committee further concluded that the procurement of TERAMOCS equipment was overpriced. Chairman Rishikesh Pokharel stated that the regulatory authority has been directed to provide progress reports every 30 days. If any misuse of authority is identified, appropriate legal action will be taken against the responsible individuals.
