Foreign tourist arrivals in the Annapurna region have reached an all-time high, marking a strong recovery and sustained growth after the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the region has recorded new tourism highs every year since 2023, driven largely by rising visitors from SAARC countries.

In 2025, a total of 299,831 tourists visited the Annapurna region, up from 244,045 in 2024 and 191,558 in 2023. Of the total arrivals in 2025, more than 177,000 were from SAARC countries, while just over 122,000 came from third countries. Although overall arrivals have surpassed pre-pandemic levels, third-country tourist numbers remain below the 2018 peak, indicating slower recovery in long-haul tourism.

The growth has been supported by increased visits from neighbouring countries, particularly religious and short-haul travelers, while traditional trekking routes continue to attract foreign trekkers. However, expanding road access on established trails has changed trekking patterns, highlighting the need to promote new routes and destinations. Tourist flow has also remained strong during the off-season, suggesting improving year-round appeal of the Annapurna region.
