Amazon displaces Microsoft to be the most valuable company of the world; once a trillion dollar company, Apple, is trailing behind Amazon, Microsoft and Alphabet

On 7th January 2019, Amazon displaced Microsoft as the most valuable company in the world with a market capitalization of $796.78 Billion. Before Amazon, Microsoft was in the leading position for a 5 week long run with capitalization of $783.43 Billion.

The stock prices of Amazon rose by approximately 3.50% to $1,629.51 per share on Monday while Microsoft’s stock rose by 1% to close at $102.06 per share.

Apple had hit the trillion dollar mark in August which was followed by Amazon achieving the same in September. In November, Microsoft has displaced Apple as the most valuable company in the world by only a Billion dollars with market capitalization of $813 Billion.

Given the popularity of the mentioned stocks, analysts have said that these tech giants are likely to trade places in the future as the market valuation of each of these companies is not very far apart.

The current market capitalization of Amazon stands at $796.78 Billion which is leading in valuation. Microsoft stands at the second place with market capitalization of $783.43 Billion. Alphabet Inc. is at the third place with market capitalization of $743.03 Billion followed by Apple at the fourth place with $701.99 Billion.
