Alternative Routes Open as BP Highway Remains Blocked Due to Flood Damage

Traffic on the BP Highway has been disrupted following heavy rains on October 3 and 4, forcing travelers between the Terai and eastern districts to seek alternative routes. One such route, via Dolalghat through Khurkot-Manthali-Charikot-Mude-Khadichour, is now being widely used.
To manage the flow of vehicles, the traffic police have implemented one-way traffic measures. Vehicles from Devkota Chowk in Manthali to the exit near the police office and bus park are moving in one direction toward Kathmandu, while vehicles coming from the opposite direction follow a one-way route from the bus park to Devkota Chowk via Kataharbot Chowk.
Kaushal Neupane, Information Officer at the District Police Office, stated that travelers from the Terai heading to districts in eastern Koshi Province and Kathmandu are relying on this alternative route. He added that the police are actively working to ensure smooth movement for passengers returning to their workplaces after celebrating Dashain in their home villages.
