After a tumultuous display of swing trading, NEPSE index closed in red with 14.09 points loss

After a tumultuous display of swing trading, the Nepal Stock Exchange closed in red with 14.09 points loss in the index from the previous close.

The market today closed at 1,464.94 levels, an overall 0.95% decline.

Within just a minute of the market opening, NEPSE hit its first positive circuit of 4.08%. The market got a circuit breaker and resumed at 11:21 a.m.

Furthermore, investors were even more surprised when NEPSE got another circuit breaker, this time also within a minute of the market reopening. The benchmark index hit the second upper circuit at 11:22 AM. Thus, NEPSE again increased by 5% percent or 74.02 points to close at 1,553.06 points in the first trading hour alone.

The market then took another breather and resumed after a 40 minutes halt i.e. at 12:02 PM.

It can be safely said that today's lively market movement brought most investors at the edge of their seats.

However, the day eventually ended in red on 1,464.94 level.

A massive 97.69 points volatility was witnessed in the trading today, wherein the highest level was 1556.20 and the lowest was 1458.51.

A total of 7,001,258 shares were traded amounting to an impressive Rs. 2,802,233,715 in the turnover amount. 181 scrips were traded via 33,433 transactions.

NMB Bank Limited had the highest turnover of Rs. 20.14 crores closing at a market price of Rs. 443 per share. It is tailed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited in terms of total turnover with a figure of Rs. 17.63 crore. NMB Bank Limited also had the highest number of shares traded for the day among all companies.

Float is down by 0.77 points and is currently at 103.34. On the other hand, the Sensitive Index is currently at 309.60 after losing 2.84 points from the previous close.

United Finance Limited (UFL) and NIC Asia Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (NICLBSL) hit a positive circuit today closing at Ra. 188 and Rs. 688 LTP respectively. On the other hand, Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (GLBSL) lost the most 9.98%, closely followed by Manjushree Finance Limited (MFIL) that lost 9.76%.

Only 4 sectors gained today while 8 others ended red. Hotels lost the most 4.47% while the highest gain was of Development Banks at a meager 0.92% uptick.
