48 private limited companies to be converted into public this year; Will all these companies issue IPO within 3 Fiscal years?

The Budget Speech of fiscal year 2075/76 has brought along many changes and reforms along with it. However for an Investor trying to diversify his/her portfolio, the major highlight was:
According to this policy, all the companies with capital above Rs 1 billion will have to convert themselves into Public Limited Companies and get listed in the stock exchange by issuing IPO. However, to issue IPO the company has to fulfill certain requirements. They are:
- Completion of one year as a Public Limited Company
- Three consecutive years of performance in profit
So below presented is the list of Private Limited Companies currently with the paid-up capital of Rs 1 arba or higher. So based on Ministry of Finance (MoF)’s directive, we can expect 48 companies to go public this year and if they fulfil the above condition we might as well soon be able to apply for their Initial Public Offering (IPO).

As you can see, most of these companies are real sector. So if these companies tread the straight path and comply with the government initiative, we can finally hope to have a more diversified portfolio. Moreover, because of the concentration of BFIs the NEPSE’s index hasn’t been able to truly depict the economy’s status. If more and more companies are incorporated in the bourse, then one day NEPSE index can be a true indicator of Nepal’s economic development.
